The Boogaloo Crew & Hylu >> Vibe

The Boogaloo Crew & Hylu, two former Get Low guests, have collaborated to bring out 'Vibe', a understated soulful summer track with shuffling garage beats that one doesn't tire of no matter how many times you play it on repeat.

It comes along with a selection of very strong remixes.  Hospital Records' Joe Syntax throws his chips in with a light techy D&B remix, and Greymatter goes all future with juttery Funky rhythms and stabs.

Well done Black Butter Records, a fantastic release.

Geesus Host vs Wiley

Geesus Host just sent this over, and it's great.  He's done an awesome job of experimenting with Wiley lyrics over soundscapes not usually associated with the Grime artist.  Frankly, Geesus Host has made it work superbly.

In his own words...

"i've been a fan of Wiley for a number of years so when i had the acapella's for his 100% Publishing album i picked my favourite 5 tracks and remixed them. I really wanted see what he'd sound like over a different set of soundscapes.

I recorded these tracks over the course of 1 week, the important thing was to catch a vibe and roll with it so thats just what i did. Its hard to classify exactly what genre these tracks are, think electronic beats, future beats, future garage, wonky, etc etc etc.

Shout to Wiley, please enjoy and spread the love. make sure you go buy his album and support independent music.

I didn't compile this EP with the idea of making money out of doing this, i did this for my love of remixing and experimenting with beats.
"

They're free to download.

 Get on this, it's dope.

GRIME Tattoo Age PART 3

This is the final part of the Vice Tattoo Age series, featuring GRIME.  It takes a far more personal look at Grime's psyche, and his need to constantly push himself and create in order to be satisfied.

On the horizon for VBS is a new documentary coming out, 'The Rebels of Libya'.  This looks epic.

GET LOW AT OUTLOOK FESTIVAL 2011

Outlook Festival is the biggest bass music event of the year.

This is the Dungeon where we'll be playing for 2011.

"A long dark tunnel that curves round on it itself is the perfect place for the more upbeat rave sets that Outlook accommodates. The shape of the venue funnels the sound from the two central stacks to create an epic sound at every inch of the room. At 300 capacity it is one of the site’s smaller arenas, an arched room curving round 180 degrees, which will provide a great area for some newly breaking sounds and well-loved rising stars in dancefloor music."

We're taking over the arena on Friday 2nd September - Midnight to 1:30AM.  Check this link to see how it was last year we played at Outlook.

HYPE IS NOT THE WORD!  Limited edition Get Low t-shirts will be available for sale on the night and throughout the festival.  Some may get thrown to the gyaldem in the crowd...

AUDIO DOUGHNUTS >> THIS SUNDAY!

Click on flyer for more info
Audio Doughnuts are holding a killer party this coming Sunday, and it's looking set to be a sell out.

For the first 100 people in it's completely free entry, and then only a fiver before midnight.  We'd recommend getting there super early.

They've got a killer line-up starting with Pinch cracking out a multi-genre set. I'm a huge fan of Boddika, and can't wait to see him live for the first time.  French Fries is gonna be absolutely sick, and I'm looking to run into one of the guys in Mista Men again after having a jolly ol' time at Bloc.

However, there's one name I'm especially excited about.

I met and became friends with Kozee from going to Dubstep nights when I lived in San Francisco, and she's a bloody awesome person and DJ.  She's a blast, and she's DJ'ing at this event in a very rare UK appearance.  Check her out mane!

NEW SMUTLEE MIX >> NYC >>

Meet Smutlee and you'll meet one of the nicest blokes ever.  Other than that it also turns out you'll be meeting an incredible party DJ who's carved quite the reputation, earning a residency at superclub Fabric, doing mixes for Vice, as well as currently having a remix out on Mad Decent.  Right now he's pushing the Moombahton sound in the UK, being the UK's go-to guy in the scene.
Here's his latest mix.

"Here's my set from my debut in NYC last friday, at Que BajoWas such a good party and really enjoyed my set, so I decided to re-record it.Sadly it's not the actual live version with rewinds and Uproot Andy & Geko Jones on the mic, but you should still get a good vibe from the mix. Had to follow a super hype set from Uproot Andy, so began with House, then brought it down to moombahton, dancehall, and even got to throw in Big Pun! Hope you enjoy."

Squarehead Mix >> Standard Procedure Session #3

Squarehead is one of my favourite new producers. His productions simply have that edge which set him apart from other producers and I reckon he's going places. A signing from one of the 'major' underground labels shouldn't be too far off. Here's a great house mix from him recorded just over a week ago.

PART 2 >> GRIME >> TATTOO AGE

Part 2 of the Tattoo Age feature on the most respected tattoo artists in the field, GRIME.  This episode gives a little back story into how a young skateboarder in Grand Junction, Colorado who thought his future was in mathematics became one of the world's most accomplished tattoo artists, as well as a look at his awesome board collection.

GREAT NEW SERATO PICTURE DISCS >> R.I.P. MISERY

Serato have released a strong collection of control discs for their Serato Artist Series, and these ones are a respected inclusion.  These celebrate New Zealand artist Misery.

Misery was the alter-ego of New Zealand born artist Tanja Jade, who breathed her uniquely dark influence into Tanja's art until her exorcism in October 2010.
Misery's characters were cheeky, whimsical, cute and always dark. Misery fused childlike wonder and the macabre together in a way that captivated fans worldwide.

However after 13 years together, Misery's overbearing dark influence led Tanja to stage a public exorcism, so she could feel free to pursue other artistic endeavors and send Misery back to Miseryland. An auction of remaining Misery works and farewell exhibition followed.

This collectable Serato Artist Series picture disc is one of Misery's final commissions, and commemorates 13 years of her exciting life. "

And they're specially engineered to be super-lightweight!

PS. I was one of the people that got the limited edition Whitelabel.net X A-Trak X Nike+ Picture Disc.

Did I keep it in mint condition?  Did I fuck.
