INBOX ROUNDUP #1

Anybody who runs a fairly successful blog will understand the avalanche of emails and promos that get sent to said blog every single day.  It's a nightmare to keep on top of everything, especially when you have a terrible internet connection at one yard and no internet connection whatsoever at your other yard (as in my case).  Coupled with a dodgy laptop screen and the supposed downfall of blogging in general, in favour of micro-blogging sites such as Tumblr or people just going straight to the source of music through fan pages and Twitter, sometimes it's hard to see if blogs are still relevant.

To make up for lost time, I intend to go through all 1000+ unread emails and post up the diamonds from the chaff.  Trust me, there's a lot of chaff.  This is going to be like the blogging version of writing The Illiad.  So, in no particular order:

PEARSON SOUND ESSENTIAL MIX

His "Working With" refix has to be one of the greatest tracks to come out in a long time.  I play this song out on the reg, including shirt & shoes bars and student commercial nights.  It's bloody massive!  Pearson Sound flexes his musical knowledge like a 'roided Jodie Marsh with this impressive mix.  Put this on and drop some acid like you're surfing a shark through time and space.

WERK - THE LIVING GRAHAM BOND

Solid Bmore banger with added trumpets. The original is the only one worth bothering about, although 'Warehouse Bird' is pretty nifty.

SWEET TALK EP - SEAN & DEV

Pleasantly surprised by these guys.  Some very listenable house here, they've got that 90s Daft Punk-esque compressed snare & hat sound on lock.

OWLS - BOTNEK

Cool little track from Botnek, Annie Mac agrees too.  Great drop.  Check out the rest of his Soundcloud page, some finds in there.

HEY LOW (Sonkin Remix) - DEV79 & THRILLS

"Purple Future Bass" just about sums this up.  When Dubstep dies down in the US and/or becomes algamated with Hip Hop, shit like this will be on the Top 40 in 5 years, with Drake & Lil Wayne crooning over it.  It's already happening if you listen out.  Check out the rest of the Secluslasis stuff, it's pretty cool.

RED ALERT (HEAVYFEET vs NICK THAYER BOOTLEG) - GROOVE ARMADA

Nifty rework.  Getting love from a variety of big DJs, A-Skillz, DJ Craze, Rob Da Bank et al.  Free download here.

GET LOW - GEENEUS ft. MS DYNAMITE

Free download!  This track gets hammered by the likes of Redlight on the reg. Good title too.

GET 2 KNOW ft. SLIX - DEV79

COUNTDOWN (TOP BILLIN PARTY EDIT) - BEYONCE x JACK BEATS

Now let's be honest, the HervĂ© remix is the boss dog of all remixes of Countdown.  And I found the original Jack Beats a tad lacking.  Top Billin seemed to agree, as they've given it a once over and with a bit of spit and polish updated Jack Beats' original with a shot of "good".  Adjectives aren't my fortĂ©.  Free download!

SUSTAINED LOUD SOUNDS - DJ ZINC

A promo tune to push Zinc's new Crack House EP.  Which is fab by the way, 'Juicy Fruit' is amazing!

Phew!  So these are my picks from sifting through 200 emails today.  I'll try to get another few mega posts in for Christmas, but it all depends on the internet connection.

If you want to send us a tune, please please, for the love of God please, send us the Soundcloud link of your beautiful creation.  It's a pain in the arse having to download your stuff to listen.  Soundcloud mane!

GET LOW NYE KNEES UP

★★★★ ADVANCE TICKETS ONLY ★★★★

So 2011 is coming to an end and to see in the New Year in style we've teamed up
with our pals at Dogstar to hold a New Years Knees Up to remember.

Being all about good vibes, we're taking a stand against the usual NYE get up where you spend half your Christmas bonus getting in and then the rest of the night waiting at the bar, so we're keeping costs down and offering a local, intimate shin dig.

For just £5 there's THREE FLOORS of non stop party vibes with all different types of music imaginable. To help with this we've got a long list of musical scientists eager to slay some crowds and set up the New Year exactly how we mean to go on.

You can expect:
FUNK/DISCO/GARAGE/SOUL/HOUSE/DUBSTEP/DANCEHALL/FUNKY/TROPICAL/DNB

and all things nice inbetween.

To keep the special guests a nice surprise for the night, we'll be releasing the lineup slowly as we get closer to the time. But for now to give you a taster of who's playing:

REDUX this Friday at Hidden. Mix from Crypt too!

REDUX are merking Hidden this Friday with 3 rooms of music and a killer line up.  We're DJing too!

The above mix is by Crypt, a 19 year old producer already making a name for himself with his Garage House fusion of deep basslines and sliced up vocal patterns.

You can still buy tickets here.  I wouldn't wait around too long if I was you...
